1. Introduction and apologies
1.1 There were no apologies.
2. Petitions Referred to Health and Social Care Committee (10:00 - 10:10)
2.1 The Committee considered two petitions that had been referred by the Petitions Committee: P-03-292 Public Toilet Provision and P-03-301 Equality for the Transgender Community.
2.2 It was agreed that the Committee would reconsider the petitions in the autumn, when its programme of work became clearer.
2.3 The Chair would write to the Petitions Committee, advising them of the Committee’s discussion and conclusion.
3. Health and Social Care Committee - Forward Work Programme (10:10 - 10:30)
3.1 The Committee discussed possible topics for a short, focused inquiry to launch over the summer recess.
3.2 It was agreed that the Committee would launch two inquiries:
· The contribution of community pharmacy to health services in Wales; and
· Stroke risk reduction.
3.3 Draft terms of reference for both inquiries would be circulated to Members by e-mail for approval, so consultation could begin over the summer.
3.4 The Research Service would prepare a scoping paper on residential care for consideration in the autumn as a potential longer term inquiry.
4. Minister for Health and Social Services and Deputy Minister for Children and Social Services (10:30 - 11:00)
4.1 The Chair welcomed Lesley Griffiths AM, Minister for Health and Social Services and Gwenda Thomas AM, Deputy Minister for Children and Social Services.
4.2 The Ministers outlined their priorities for the health and social services agenda and answered questions from Members on these priorities.
4.3 The Committee accepted the Deputy Minister’s offer of a briefing on issues relating to residential care from the Director of Social Services.
4.4 The Chair thanked the Minister and Deputy Minister for their attendance.
